From what I can tell that is what is happening with the WordPress v. Thesis debate. WordPress is a country, has its own rules, has citizens making money while living there, has a population, and says that you can build on top of it freely and openly as long as you adhere to some rules. Thesis is a citizen that doesn’t want to follow the speed limit or respect the country or the others that have built it. It is being pulled over by a cop right now and told ‘hey, you are breaking the rules’ and responding ‘screw you, DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?’

I had to have a bit of a chuckle at this.

I was a guest on the WordPress Community Podcast last night and had a lot of fun with the show’s hosts, Joost de Valk & Frederick Townes.

We discussed a lot of the strategies & “policies” that we have implemented with WooThemes; especially with regards to customer service, creating loyal & evangelistic users, as well as our development cycles & processes around that.

Definitely worth a listen if you have 40-odd minutes to spare.

I loved reading @jschuller’s about his journey from a full-time job to being self-employed. I remember watching with keen interest when he started out in the WordPress community and it’s been a blast seeing the awesome stuff that he has been releasing.

What’s even cooler though, is seeing another individual making a living for themselves based upon their own ideas, freedom & passion. If you read the post, you’ll find Jason’s passion for his “job” evidenced throughout and that is significant success for any individual.

So the question is: Why are you still stuck in your corporate desk job?

Quite enjoyed Khoi’s candid & transparent review of how well Basic Maths has sold thus far, as there is not a lot of this type of data going around.

I also particularly liked his opinion on this:

But themes don’t move that strongly, or at least this one doesn’t, and it’s the long tail where the numbers really add up.

I’m a firm believer in the long tail and having 60+ themes on WooThemes now is really enforcing that believe in the long tail (and hopefully a tipping point somewhere in the future).
